What is Evolutionary Astrology?

Speaking the language of evolutionary astrology.

Evolutionary Astrology

Let me start that by saying there are many styles of astrology, each with their own paradigm and interpretation of the astrological chart and symbols. Each is valid, saying otherwise would be like saying German is a more correct language than Chinese. The language I speak is Evolutionary.
Evolutionary Astrology is an intersection of two very specific perspectives. The first is a Western philosophy of psychological archetypes (ala Carl Jung), the second is an Eastern belief in reincarnation. It is rooted in the belief that we are consciousness evolving and have free will in the choices we make.
Understanding archetypes are psychological patterns we see in human thinking and behavior, they play out in our daily lives. For example, if I said a person is displaying their Warrior archetype a set of qualities would come to mind. Further any archetype can be acting from a place of shadow (i.e. a Mercenary) or from enlightenment (i.e. a Samurai) we see a different level of consciousness being displayed.
Now bringing the Karmic aspect to the equation it would be naive to believe that our consciousness could evolve in a single lifetime. Karma has gotten a inaccurate representation in the Western Judeo-Christian world…if I do something “bad”, something “bad” will happen to me. Or if I do enough “good” in the world my soul will be saved. A more accurate interpretation of Karma is habit of the soul. Something happened in a past life where we have rejected the experience or impact. It typically manifests in one of four ways:
  • Vice – in a past life I was a horse thief. In the current life I might be a car thief. I learned a bad habit.
  • Virtue – in a past life I was born with the name Baker. What did my family do? Bake. As a good member of the family I became a baker. What if my soul came to travel, be a teacher or something other than being a baker. I did the virtuous thing.
  • Tragedy – in a past life I heard about the opportunity offered on a new frontier. I sold all my worldly belongings and set out. In the middle of my journey I’m killed…never fulfilling my quest.
  • Evil – this is a highly charged word. I define it as intentionally causing pain or taking pleasure in the pain of others.
On the other side of the Karma is the Dharma (teaching), what is the lesson your soul came to learn. Often we know we are on our path of dharma because we are making mistakes, our soul has never done it before. The key to evolving, when we miss the mark, don’t miss the lesson.
As an Evolutionary Astrologer I’m more like a counselor,  giving you a map (archetypes) and compass (karma/dharma). Through the birth chart we will see where you started, looking at Transits and Progressions we can see what’s unfolding right now. For more details you can see My Offerings or Book a Session.
