Mythology:

Aquarius is the eleventh astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation Aquarius. Under the tropical zodiac, the sun is in Aquarius between about January 21 and about February 20. The water carrier represented by the zodiacal constellation Aquarius is Ganymede, a beautiful Phrygian youth. Ganymede was the son of Tros, king of Troy (according to Lucian, he was also the son of Dardanus). While tending to his father’s flocks on Mount Ida, Ganymede was spotted by Zeus. The king of gods fell in love with him and flew down to the mountain in the form of a large bird, whisking Ganymede away to the heavens. Ever since, the boy has served as cupbearer to the gods. Ovid has Orpheus sing the tale.

Expression:

Aquarian’s are know for breaking the rules. In a broader sense they are often demonstrating what is emerging in society. As you look at the various archetypes you see the many ways in which this can be expressed. In its highest expression it takes humanity into uncharted areas. When it drops into shadow it can be rebelling for the sake of being different. The joke I offer an Aquarian on first meeting, the best way to get you to do something is to tell you not to do it.

The challenge for the Aquarian is to find the right distance. Imagine a person whom the village thinks of as a little “weird.” If they live amongst the villagers they will be shunned, if the live deep in the woods they will be vilified. They challenge is to live on the edge of the village and over time the village will grow to include them.
